We lead such busy lives here in Australia and so when it comes to taking care of things around your household, you need to do some out-of-the-box thinking so that tasks can be created in a fraction of the time with less effort. Doing your laundry is important, especially so if you have a large family and thankfully we have modern technology to do all of the washing for us, but there are some things that you need to have in place to make laundry day much easier than it currently is here in Australia.
One of the first things that you need to invest in is a rattan laundry hamper where you can keep all of your dirty clothing in and if you don’t mind splashing out a little bit more money, then you could have an individual hamper for each member of the family. You could of course use additional hampers to separate out the clothes in terms of the whites, the colours and all the other things. This is just one top tip to make your laundry day easier and the following are some others.
- Buy a few hampers – As was touched on briefly before, it makes sense to buy a few hampers so that you have different places for different kinds of clothes. The last thing that you want to be doing is mixing your whites in with your colours because if the colour runs then you have lots of pink clothing that you’re never going to wear. Similarly, you can have a laundry hamper to put all of your clean clothes in so that they are more easily distributed to each member of the family.
- Get the whole family involved – This includes the kids especially because they have a very nasty habit of hanging all of their clothes on the floor and so you have to clean up after them and pick everything up. If you provide each member of the family with their own laundry basket then there is no excuse for them to throw everything haphazardly around their bedrooms and indeed the whole house.
- Keep your washing machine clean – There should be a self-cleaning function for any modern washing machine but if there isn’t, then you should take steps to clean the drum yourself. One easy way to do that is to pour some vinegar into the drum and put it on a standard wash. This will remove all of the gunk and buildup of other things so that your machine works more efficiently and your clothes are cleaner.
One frustrating thing about many Australian households is that they put in pairs of socks and yet one always seems to go missing. To avoid this frustrating situation, put all of your socks into a laundry bag and then you know that everything is contained in one place. Hopefully, this will address the issue of losing socks and having to buy more all the time.
