Honkai: Star Rail is an amazing turn-based RPG from the developers of Genshin Impact and Honkai: 3rd Impact – Hoyoverse. Hoyoverse is known for pumping out quality products by now, and we can’t wait for their newest game – ZZZ/Zenless Zone Zero.
Now, unless you want to invest into your account by using Star Rail Top Up services to do so, you might want to invest into some free to play characters that are pretty decent – but which ones should you really invest your hard earned resources into? Well, we’re here to find out.
Free Character 1 – Physical/Destruction Trailblazer
Trailblazer, which is the name everyone refers to your main character in the game – is the starting character you get and unlike Genshin with Anemo Lumine/Aether, Physical (Starting) Trailblazer is a pretty strong unit. You get access to AOE physical break and bleed, and unless you got lucky with a character like Clara, you won’t have that many physical options to pick from. So, it might be a good idea to invest into Physical MC early.
Free Character 2 – Fire/Preservation Trailblazer
Similarly to Genshin Impact’s Traveler, the Trailblazer has the ability to change elements and gameplay styles as you progress through the game, and the first you get is the Fire Trailblazer which is also a Preservation character, which means that you become a tank that deals Fire and AOE Fire damage. The reason why Fire MC (Main Character) is so good is because of the Treasure of the Architects talent which applies a shield to all party members whenever the Trailblazer uses their ATK, Skill, or Ultimate. The shield scales off of a percentage of the Trailblazer’s DEF + a base amount, and it is REALLY good. Overall, a really good unit.
Free Character 3 – March 7th
Another really strong Preservation character. Now, there are two ways you can build March – ATK or DEF, but generally – DEF is the easier way to go because of how strong her shield is. The reason why you might want to go ATK is because when she casts her ultimate, she has a 50% base chance to freeze enemies which then take additional damage equal to a portion of March 7th’s ATK every time they are hit while frozen. However, her shield, which scales off of her DEF, also gives higher taunt values to the character she casts it on, and every time that character is hit – March 7th does a follow-up attack.
Free Character 4 – Dan Heng
Dan Heng is a simple character. Does a lot of single target Wind damage while also providing utility in the form of slows. If he crits, he slows the enemies down by 12%, which may not seem like much – but it can delay the enemies turns just enough for your allies to finish them off before they even get to make a move.
Conclusion
If you don’t want to invest a lot of money into Honkai: Star Rail, or you’re a free to play purist, you’re going to want to invest into these 4 characters as they’re really great overall!
